A local Labour candidate in Rochdale accidentally described her patch as 'thieving' rather than 'thriving' in her election literature

It seems Shefali Begum, the Labour candidate for the Spotland and Falinge ward, Rochdale, has learnt the importance of reading through election pitches before clicking 'send'.

Among her calls for refurbishment of the local primary school and greater women's rights, Begum also stated: "I believe to make a prosperous thieving borough we need united and strong communities which are dedicated and passionate about where they live and their future generations will reside."

Luckily for her, an eagle-eyed reader spotted the mistake and the text has now been changed.
