Revealed: how John Bercow sends signed photos to his adoring fans
The Speaker has raised eyebrows with his expenses - again.
"I’m not bothered about politics," Liam Gallagher said recently. "Theresa May and that other c*** can get on with it. But I like that geezer, the Speaker of the House."
The Oasis frontman also revealed that he did impressions of John Bercow, telling Q magazine that found the Speaker "funny as fuck".
Now it transpires that Gallagher may not be the only fan of the man responsible for keeping order in the Commons chamber.
In 2015, Bercow was notably scolded for racking up ludicrously large expenses – including spending £158 on a car to Lady Thatcher’s funeral at St Paul’s Cathedral just 1.8 miles from the Commons.
In 2018, he has done it again with Freedom of Information requests revealing that Bercow recently used his official expenses to fund a £1,540 reception for new MPs. Meanwhile, the subscription to Sky for his grace-and-favour apartment at parliament costs a hefty £109 a month.
But perhaps most curious is the revelation that Bercow has spent £70 on copies of photographs of the Speaker to be sent out to members of the public on “request”.
So are devoted fans really requesting signed copies of the Speaker? And could the lead singer of Oasis get his hands on one?
A spokeswoman told MailOnline: "Copies of the official photograph of the Speaker are sent out on request to members of the public, and re-ordered when required."
