Why did you get involved in the political world?
Because I realised that the most powerful word in a democracy is “why?” and I wanted to encourage as many people as possible to ask that question as often as possible.
When did you join your political party?
Margaret Thatcher rescued Britain from decades of decline.
What is your earliest political memory?
Aged 9 I remember objecting to the law requiring us to wear seat belts in cars.
Which one law would you repeal?
The European Communities Act 1972. All our problems flow from that one pernicious piece of legislation.
Which one law would you introduce?
The Great Repeal Bill advocated by Douglas Carswell and Daniel Hannan in The Plan.
What’s your favourite view in the world?
From the Lincoln Memorial across the Mall towards the US Capitol.

If you could have been present at any debate in the House of Commons over the last three hundred years, which would it have been , and why?
The No Confidence Debate in November 1990 when Margaret Thatcher destroyed Neil Kinnock on the day she’d resigned as Prime Minister. It would have made me even angrier at the cowardice of the wets who knifed her.

Listening to Leona Lewis sing on X-Factor. Then she spoke and the crying stopped.

Sarah Palin on Saturday Night Live. It took a lot of balls for her to agree to be interviewed and she nailed it.
What is the best speech you have ever heard (and been present at)?
Former Oklahoma Congressman JC Watts spoke at an American conservative conference a few years ago. His oratory was incredible and had many of us moved to tears. If only he’d run for President…

William Hague.

Mrs Doubtfire. I was banking on a happy ending!

The Downing Street Years by Margaret Thatcher.

1984 by George Orwell – eerily prescient.
Name a book you have read which has failed to live up to expectations
Bill Clinton’s autobiography. Self-indulgent and onanistic.
Who would you like to say sorry to, and why?
That’s a huge list. The many people I’ve lost my temper at over the years and those I’ve let down when they expected better of me.
What job would you be doing if you weren’t involved in the political world?
Either playing alongside Xabi Alonso in the Liverpool midfield or practising law.
Do you have a party trick, or hidden talent?
I am a choral scholar and sing some mean karaoke when drunk.
What’s the best holiday you have been on?
My honeymoon to Colorado.
Where in the world would you most like to go on holiday?
Cuba – but only when it’s free again.

You’ve got me there! I drive everywhere.

What is your most unusual hobby?
I single-handedly keep American Airlines afloat by spending thousands of pounds on airfares every year.
When was the last time you went to the theatre and what did you see?
Mamma Mia a few months ago. It’s better in the theatre than on screen. Much better.

I love left-wing blogs because of the righteous indignation they exude – Bloggerheads, Liberal Conspiracy and Daily Kos cheer me up no end.

None. I buy the Spectator and Private Eye when I travel.

Generous, sound, pro-American, workaholic, unpredictable.

Biogted, evil, fat, tory bastard – I know this because that’s what they call me on my blog :)

I love watching football and, to a lesser degree, ice hockey, cricket, tennis and rugby.

Liverpool; Steven Gerrard.
Who is your political hero?
Ronald Reagan – for winning the Cold War without firing a single shot.
Who is your political hate figure?
Karl Marx – millions died and/or have been enslaved in furtherance of his evil, divisive and hate-filled ideology.
What’s your most memorable time in politics?
Getting elected to Hammersmith & Fulham Council with Greg Hands in 1998 on the largest swing in London at the height of Blair’s popularity.
What’s your most embarrassing moment in politics?
Almost getting re-elected in an marginal ward in 2002 despite doing no canvassing or campaigning whatsoever.
What’s your prediction for the next general election?
Conservative majority of 40.
Who is your favourite and least favourite political interviewer?
When he’s on form, John Humphrys is my favourite – closely followed by Bill O’Reilly. I loathe Jon Snow.
What do you never miss on TV?
NCIS, Bones, Match of the Day.
Which current foreign politician do you most admire?
Sarah Palin: for remaining cheerful and upbeat despite the left-wing media’s hysteria towards her.
What do you listen to / watch when you get up in the morning?
My wife bringing me breakfast in bed :)
