When did you start blogging?
Sadie's Tavern started in February 2008 very much as it intended to go on: with a rant about Henry Porter. However, I've been online in various manifestations for a couple of years now.
Why did you start blogging?
I believe a Question Time of particular vacuity and a bottle of wine may have had something to do with it. That, and a loathing of ageing rockers who hold annual ego-fests in fields for lighter-waving teenagers; civil liberties enthusiasts whose major beefs tend to revolve around not being able to drive as fast as they like unimpeded by the ‘police state'; and talentless members of the commentariat whose good fortune in being born to senior executives at major newspapers or broadcasters brings the kind of munificence the Taxpayers' Alliance likes to accuse minimum wage council workers of enjoying. And I know this is a bit old fashioned, but I just really enjoy writing; sometimes when you're on a roll, there's no feeling like it.
How would you describe the blog?
A slightly humorous - on a good day - take on politics and current affairs with a commitment to crow-barring bad gags in. I write mainly about politics, a little bit about feminism, and anything else that takes my fancy. It actually has a couple of regulars who hang out in the comments area and are occasionally up for engaging in a bit of banter. You can't ask for much more on a blog, can you?
