Labour's candidate for Mayor of London was visibly moved as he unveiled his party political broadcast with Ed Miliband

Ken Livingstone was moved to tears at the unveiling of Labour's London party political broadcast today.

The Evening Standard's Pippa Crerar explains why Labour's candidate became overwhelmed.

He described the film was “a tear jerker”.

“It’s an appalling responsibility," said Livingstone.

"The people you saw on the screen represent hundreds of thousands of Londoners who desperately want a mayor who is going to make their life easier in this city.

“It’s a huge responsibility to make people’s lives better over the next four years and that’s why I want to win.”

The show of emotion earnt him a pat on the back from Labour leader Ed Miliband.
