I’m not exactly heartbroken about Brexit, says Donald Trump
Watch: The US president also said he has been 'reading a lot about Brexit' recently.
Donald Trump has suggested that Theresa May's Brexit vision is not "what people voted for" in the EU referendum.
The latest piece of bad news for the prime minister came as the U.S president spoke at a press conference following the Nato summit in Brussels.
He said: "I've been reading a lot about Brexit over the last couple of days and it seems to be turning a little bit differently, where they're getting at least partially involved back with the European Union...
"The people voted to break it up, so I would imagine that's what they want. But maybe they're trying a bit of a different route - I don't know if that's what people voted for."
Trump’s verdict came as he also repeatedly stressed that “it’s not for me to say what they should be doing in the UK”.
Then he misheard a question from a reporter and became a bit obsessed with that he thought they had said.
“Is it heart-breaking? Oh hard Brexit. I though you said it was heartbreaking. .. That might be going a little bit far."
