Greg Hands gets on the wrong side of exasperated Andrew Neil
Watch: The BBC interrogator asked the minister if he knew what he was talking about.
As tensions run high in the Conservative party over Theresa May’s Brexit strategy, Greg Hands has become the latest government figure to refuse to give a straight answer on the subject.
But, unfortunately for the international trade minister, BBC Daily Politics host Andrew Neil wasn’t willing to let his guest off the hook.
Neil tried repeatedly to pin Hands down on whether the Government wants to be in or out of the EU single market and customs union for the two-year transition period after Brexit. But the minister kept wriggling out if it.
Eventually, an exasperated Neil asked: "Do you know what you're talking about? Do you have any idea what you're talking about?"
“I’m the international trade minister, yes,” said Hands.
To which the BBC interrogator-in-chief told him: “That's what worries me.”
