Brian Walden: You come over as being someone who one of your backbenchers said is slightly off her trolley, authoritarian, domineering, refusing to listen to anybody else -why? Why cannot you publicly project what you have just told me is your private character?
Margaret Thatcher: Brian, if anyone's coming over as domineering in this interview, it's you. It's you.

Sir Robin Day: Can I get in this question please Prime Minister because. . .
Margaret Thatcher: You asked me the most fundamental thing. I must beg of you.
RD: I know, but we're not having a party political broadcast, we're having an interview, which must depend on me asking some questions occasionally.
MT: Yes, indeed. You asked what I know you call the 'gut' question. Right, it's gone to the gut, it's gone to the jugular. Let me finish it.
