Quotes

The mood of the country as a whole and the opinions of the people who voted Lib Dem should be considered important enough to trump the petty indulgences of Liberal Democract activists and other loons. A general rule: when choosing between fucking the public and fucking the base, successful political parties tell the base to go fuck themselves.

It is such a shockingly short campaign to an America, our last presidential campaign lasted 18 months. Why could a country that fashions itself in the top five on earth take only a month to make a decision on their leader? A country that seems to enjoy politics so much more than my own seems to dispatch with their process so quickly...Maybe if I truly was a part of your system the whole process would make sense, but I doubt it.

Perhaps election fever is developing into something more like sleeping sickness, as the utter boredom of a contest in which almost all the attention seems to be on personalities and polls wears us all down. I just wish they would get on with it.

I actually enjoy canvassing, as it does good. This is one of the advantages of being Labour. I have no hesitation in penetrating working-class houses, and they are so grateful and loyal... I am so glad I belong to the Party now. I really feel much more comfortable as a Labour man.

Random Speech

It had the effect of cementing the Anglo-American alliance. What's the good of having bases if when you want to use them you're not allowed to by the home country. It made America realise that Britain was her real and true friend, when they were hard up against it and wanted something, and that no one else in Europe was. They're a weak lot, some of them in Europe you know. Weak. Feeble.
