In early September I was a keynote speaker in for the Queensland Local Government Association. Queensland is an amazing place and has just under gone a massive local reorganisation imposed by the state government. Still they seem to be coping fairly well, even though given the size of the some of the councils they have created some councillors have to fly to council meetings. It’s plain though that councillors and officials know how to be very welcoming and have a good time.
The guest star singer at the gala evening supper was Leo Sayer, who first came to prominence in the 1970s. It got be thinking about we could get at various UK local government events. The Convention of Scottish Local Authorities (COSLA) could go for Rod Stewart, the County Councils Network should surely go for Cliff Richards. Any other helpful suggestions out there?
