Who are you?
My name is Benedict Pringle. I work within the daily election of brand competition at London advertising agency AMV BBDO. Politics is my hobby.

When did you start blogging?
28 October 2008.

 

Why did you start blogging?
I had a meeting with a 'social media engagement' agency who let on that they take bloggers out for lunch in order to try and get them to write something favourable about a given event/brand/person. I hate the idea of missing but on a lunch opportunity.

 

How would you describe the blog?
The blog is a 'documentation and commentary on political advertising'. Political advertising is no longer curtailed to political institutions' broadcasting to an electorate. Now activists, bloggers and video-makers can produce and  distribute content that affects the manner in which people think about political issues in tangible ways.

 

What has been your most controversial moment?

In June this year, Che Guevara's granddaughter, Lydia, modelled semi-naked in an advert for PETA (the animal rights group), whilst she mimicked her father's iconic revolutionary image. I blogged to say that, whilst it was her call as to the honorability of her participation using her relation's equity, I felt it was at best cheap and at worst dishonourable - a barrage of emails ensued.
