As part of our on-going top political blogger interview series, Total Politics speaks to Dizzy Thinks about the absurdity of government, ministers telling it like it is and breaking the Tory mould.
Who are you?
I'm pretty much just an ordinary bloke that studied politics and computers. The latter being a hobby, the former paying the bills. I then, by an extraordinary stroke of good luck, ended up with a website that a lot of people like to read.
Given your (if I can say) slightly unconventional Tory style do you ever anger the right?
It's funny you ask this, but since the election I have noticed that quite a few of my regular readers have turned against me in the comments when I continue to complain about the Tories doing stuff that Labour did. They're clearly a fickle lot but at least I'm consistent in my raging fury at the ineptitude and absurdity of government.
How are you received by other Conservatives?
There's only been one time that I've got grief, and that was on election night when some snooty idiot started reeling off the title of a post word-for-word that had slated a Tory PPC who'd just lost by a thousand or so votes. Apparently, my post appeared variably first, second and third in Google when searching the PPC's name, thus I had a role in his failure to win. Such is life, huh?
Is there anything that can be improved in politics now?
Absolutely. I'd like to see the rules on unparliamentary language removed. Wouldn't it be refreshing, just once, to see a politician stand up and say something like: "I must say I think the minister is talking absolute bollocks"? Yes, they still do clever insults that fit within the rules, but seriously, if you want to make politics more accessible then perhaps it is time to make its language a bit more relevant to the real world?

Least favourite?
The self-important, self-righteous left wing blogs in general, the only exception being Political Scrapbook which doesn't take itself too seriously.
