Birmingham councillor Mike Leddy has denied allegations of using council postal services to send party political post to constituents. The Labour councillor has been formerly reprimanded for this offence. He claims that the renewed accusations have no basis and that his latest letters have been checked by council lawyers.

Cardiff council is planning to reduce congestion, help the environment, and cater for shoppers visiting the city centre by imposing a crackdown on cheap inner city parking spaces. The plan is receiving criticism from those who work in the city centre, who will be forced to pay more to park, travel by public transport or make use of park and ride schemes.

In a bid to cut costs, Edinburgh city council has invited private companies to express any interest in working with the council. Council leader Jenny Dawe explains this alternative approach could "continue to provide maximum value for taxpayers' money while delivering the quality frontline services that residents expect".

Teignbridge council’s development committee has voted in favour of a £6.8m re-development plan of the Carlton Theatre. The decision comes despite concerns raised by English Heritage over the proposed plans detracting from nearby buildings.
