Below are the top 10 as voted for by our readers, journalists, MPs, Lords, councillors and the public. Nick Robinson claimed the number one slot, knocking Evan Davis into second place, while Eddie Mair made a considerable ascent, moving from 23rd to 5th place.

It is also worth looking at who journalists voted as their top 100 among their colleagues.
