Last week the Ministry of Justice announced the formation of a Commission to investigate the case for a UK Bill of Rights, to ‘ensure that our rights, freedoms and liberties are protected in a way that properly reflects our traditions’.
This comes after a long period of speculation that the Conservative Party within the coalition government may wish to scrap the Human Rights Act entirely, and the human rights community in the
