Beecroft is an 'outrider'

So Adrian Beecroft says he has been "taken aback" by the negative reaction to his report.

"I don't think the compromise we're talking about would have happened if I hadn't written the report," said the private equity boss.

Some Conservative MPs agree.

One PPS told me that his proposals were "too strong" - but that this was the intention.

"[Beecroft] is an outrider, you see," they said.

Lib Dem anger over Beecroft grows stronger

Lib Dem criticism for Tory donor Adrian Beecroft's report just keeps coming.

One Lib Dem MP described Adrian Beecroft's work as "frankly shit" when I asked about it.

They suggested there was very little research and it was just a "rant" by the venture capitalist.

"That was after I'd got through all the spelling and grammar errors," they added.

Their comments come after business secretary Vince Cable criticised the proposal
