The House of Commons Commission revealed it spent £5,854,000 on heating and lighting the Commons estate in the last two financial years.
The cost of electricity for the site increased by £90,800 from 2010-11 to 2011-12, according to a parliamentary answer obtained by Labour MP Luciana Berger.
But the gas bill for the Commons fell by £44,000 over the same period.
Lib Dem MP John Thurso said that the differences between the two years is mainly due to changes in tariffs.
Overall last year, the Commons Commission spent £2,433,200 on electricity and £517,500 on gas.
