More scientific polling on this subject will undoubtedly be unveiled in the coming days, but I thought I'd share with you the results of our own autumn statement survey of TP's readers.

A clear 63% of you think that George Osborne has got it right on the economy, rather than Ed Balls.

45% of you blame Labour for the economic crisis, followed by 35% who chalk it up to the 2008 financial crisis. Interestingly, very few people consider the eurozone crisis to be at fault - unlike George Osborne, who cited it in his statement to the Commons this afternoon.

Some of the 'other' reasons cited included 'Gordon Brown's brain goblin', 'casino bankers' and 'ignorant government over the years'.
