Nick Clegg went to visit a children’s centre in Hammersmith in order to illustrate his social mobility plans for children. However, the photo-op soon looked like it had been scripted by Armando Iannucci, when it transpired the centre was losing funding from the local council and may be closed.

Clegg was harangued by the local Labour MP Andrew Slaughter and local residents, and just as he made a bid for his ministerial Jaguar, he was handed cards made by the children pleading for the centre not to be closed.

All in all, a bad day for Nick's press team.
