The new EU appointees show why it was wrong to think Tony Blair had a hope in hell of becoming President. The people in these jobs must never outshine the French and German leaders or overwhelm the European Commission. Blair might have "stopped the traffic" in capitals around the world, but that's pretty much the reason why he wasn't chosen. It's a shame that we will never get to see Prime Minister Cameron interacting with President Blair.
