This is spreading like wildfire on twitter, facebook, THE WEB - its a daily updated web page with various skits on Palin in the office.

Check it out if you haven't seen it yet. I was keen, though, to know who was behind it. Was it Obama's camp and did they have a grand plan to get it round the web?

In true Sherlock Holmes fashion I tracked it down to the authorship of an ad creative called Steve Yee. Obviously an Obama supporter but NOT part of the campaign in any way. He just used his talents to create something that struck a chord and was the kind of thing you wanted to share with other folks. It also showcases his talents and hopefully will lead to work.

Its recieved over a million hits already! There's similar web collateral that's been created to help Obama but has NOT been originated by anyone within the official campaign. Check Obama girl or this from Will.i.am

There is potential for this stuff to happen here, so what's stopping it? Essentially when political parties ask people for help it tends to be asking people to deliver leaflets or send in cheques. Nowadays, though, people are less inclined to just follow orders, they have busy and interesting lives. However they would be inclined to do something that is challenging and genuinely adds value by providing some skill and expertise for the good of the campaign.

Political parties need to just 'let them do it' rather than viewing the campaign volunteers as sheep to be marshalled.
