'Trim' Tom Watson reveals the secret behind his 67lbs weight loss
The Labour deputy leader has outperformed both George Osborne and Michael Gove.
Back in 2014, George Osborne lost two stone by adopting the 5:2 diet.
According to reports, Michael Gove shed the same amount after spending a week at an Austrian ‘fat farm’ popular with celebrities.
Now Tom Watson has outperformed both of his Tory rivals – by shedding a whopping 67lbs since August.
Appearing on Good Morning Britain, the Labour deputy leader revealed that his weight loss was partly down to doing Dry January.
It was also a result of “jogging in the park, cycling and going to the gym,” said the man once dubbed Tommy Two Dinners by some of his comrades.
As he appeared on the GMB sofa, Watson was complimented on his new look by Piers Morgan, who said: “You’re looking so trim… The whole look now screams to me leader in waiting”. Morgan then stated on Twitter: "He’s lost 67lbs since August. Amazing!"
But while Watson may have surpassed the achievements of most dieting politicians, he is still a way behind his Labour colleague Lord Falconer – who recently dropped from 16 stone to 11 stone after adopting a drastic crash diet made up mainly of apples and Diet Coke.
